  1. You need to add many more Russian, Polish, Hungarian and German films AND you left out Paths of Glory 1956? As well there are many contemporary or “interwar” (1919-1939) American, European and even CANADIAN relevant films. Thanks for your efforts though.   3. Thanks, I look forward to going through this list and your reviews.

    I’ve also been listening to a lot of Great War-related podcasts… mostly history, some of it new research seeking to overturn or alter received knowledge, including the dates of the war, which some see as starting before and ending after the usual dates. Mostly these podcasts are from Great Britain and formerly British Commonwealth countries. And they’re mostly from the BBC. Nothing seeing with that but I’d like to hear more German stories, if anybody knows of any sources in English.

    I recommend “The Great War Diary”, which is I think a BBC tv miniseries. I found it compelling, and the musical score affecting. I watched it on Netflix (USA) (still avail as of Oct 2016). Also on Netflix (USA), some amazing doc footage in “The First World War from Above” (ditto re date). War is hell.

  5. Tunes of Glory is a Great War movie, even if there are no war battles., but a peacetime unit deteriorating
